While more commonly known as a spice used in cooking, Oregano is a key oil used in the Raindrop Technique and can be used in massage after exercise.  The warm, woody and herbaceous scent of Oregano can also be used aromatically for it’s calming properties.

The primary chemical components of Oregano are carvacol and thymol.  Google these constituents to learn more about the many benefits of Oregano!

How to use: For aromatic or topical use.  Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water.  Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists.  Possible skin sensitivity.

  1. Oregano is a warming oil and feels great on the skin when diluted and applied after a workout or during massage.
  2. Diffuse Oregano to help purify the air and dispel odors.
  3. Place 10 drops of Oregano to distilled water and place in a spray bottle for an effective and great smelling surface cleaner.
  4. Diffuse Oregano to help energize the mind!
  5. Due to it’s cleansing abilities, Oregano is a great oil to dilute and use on your feet and toenails.

  1. I like to use Common Sense when I’m making a big purchase.  It reminds me to be mindful of not only what catches my eye, but remember what my pocketbook can afford!
  2. Cleaning out the closet or filing cabinet is emotional for me.  Without direction I just throw EVERYTHING away, damned the consequences.  Diffusing Common Sense can help focus you to pay attention to those devilish details (and papers) that need to be held on to.
  3. Walking into any emotionally charged situation, really, could use some sort of grounding oil.  Common Sense is great to use on  your wrists or back of neck to relax and calm and focus on what needs to be done.  If you’ve ever have the misfortune of cleaning out a residence after a loved one has passed you know what I mean.
  4. Handling the affairs of elder care is ALWAYS challenging and emotional.  Use Common Sense to help you make those tough decisions.

Copaiba essential oil is a for topical or aromatic use while Copaiba Vitality™ essential oil is a dietary oil and can therefore be ingested.

Copaiba It comes from trees in the genus Copaifera which are leguminous trees,???????????????????????????????????????????? commonly found in the Amazon rainforest. When tapped, these trees secrete a sticky, viscous liquid called oleoresin. This transparent resin is then used to extract Copaiba essential oil, a powerhouse of an essential oil with many valuable properties. With high levels of beta-caryophyllene (a chemical also found in marijuana) and a uniquely sweet aromatic profile, Copaiba oil helps create a relaxing atmosphere when diffused or applied topically.

The gentle, woodsy aroma of Copaiba makes it a great addition to your daily routine and skin care. Add it to a neutral moisturizer to utilize its natural fragrance and moisturizing properties or apply it to flex points following activity for an uplifting, comforting cooldown.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use.  Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water.  Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists.  Possible skin sensitivity.

  1. Add to a moisturizer or skin cream to help enhance the appearance of healthy-looking skin.
  2. Copaiba is a signature oil in Young Living’s Active & Fit Kit and can be diluted with a carrier oil for a post-workout massage oil. For an added cooling sensation, combine with Peppermint or Wintergreen.
  3. Copaiba is known as a “magnifier”.  Mix Copaiba with other topical oils to enhance the benefits of that oil.
  4. Diffuse to create a warm, inviting space. Try a custom diffusing blend by adding oils such as Cedarwood or Cinnamon Bark.
  5. Create a natural beard oil with Copaiba, a lightweight carrier oil, and a complementary oil such as Northern Lights Black Spruce or Peppermint.
  6. Create a hair mask that nourishes both hair and scalp:combine ½ avocado, 1 egg yolk, 2–4 drops of Copaiba essential oil, and 1–2 drops of Rosemary essential oil in a blender. Distribute through hair, massage into scalp, and wrap hair in a shower cap. Wait 5–10 minutes. Rinse out in the shower, and then shampoo and condition as normal.

Sage Vitality™ Essential Oil

Sage essential oil is used aromatically and topically while Sage Vitality essential oil is a dietary oil and therefore can be ingested.

The sage plant, also known as Salvia officinalis, is a member of the mint family. Sage Vitality™ is steamed distilled from the leaves and is known for its warm, earthy flavor that no Thanksgiving dinner could be without.

However, this potent essential oil is too good to be reserved solely for the holidays. Sage Vitality oil can also be a wonderful flavor enhancer for seafood, vegetables, breadsticks, corn breads, muffins, and other savory breads.

How to use: How to use: For internal use.  To use as a dietary supplement, add to food, water or other beverages.  Can also place a few drops in a vegetable capsule and take internally to support overall wellness

  1. Add to holiday dishes like stuffing to enjoy its signature flavor.
  2. Take as a dietary supplement to support a healthy digestive system.*
  3. Use Sage Vitality while baking winter squash to enhance the squash’s earthy flavors.
  4. Use Sage Vitality essential oil in soups and stews to add a wonderful flavor to signature winter dishes.

Vegetable Soup

The great thing about vegetable soup is that you can add whatever you have on hand.  Don’t fret if you don’t have these vegetables in your fridge – Substitute corn, cabbage, kale, asparagus, even orzo pasta…whatever!

  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup green beans, sliced
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup zucchini, diced
  • 1/2 cup celery, diced
  • 1 medium potato, diced
  • 1 can cannellini beans
  • 6 cups vegetable broth (try making your own vegetable broth with kitchen scraps!)
  • 1-2 drops Sage Vitality Essential oil
  • 1-2 drops Thyme Vitality Essential oil
  • S/P to taste

Add oil and garlic to pan and saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.  Add carrots and celery and cook 5 minutes more.  Add remaining ingredients (excepts essential oils) and simmer for 30 minutes until vegetables are tender.  Add essential oils and simmer for 10 minutes more.

While more commonly known as a spice used in cooking, Marjoram is a key oil used in the Raindrop Technique and can be used in massage after exercise.  The warm, woody and herbaceous scent of Marjoram can also be used aromatically for it’s calming properties.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use.  Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water.  Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists.  Possible skin sensitivity.

  1. Place a few drops of Marjoram on the back of the neck when facing difficult of stressful situations.  Due to it’s calming properties you may find yourself able to relax more.
  2. Marjoram is a warming oil and feels great on the skin when diluted and applied after a workout.
  3. Diffuse Marjoram at night to promote a restful night’s sleep.  Marjoram blends well with Bergamot, Lavender, Cypress, or Rosemary.
  4. Mix 3 drops Roman Chamomile, 3 Drops Lavender, 2 drops Marjoram and 2 drops Thyme with epsom salt and add to hot bath.  This calming mixture will have you relaxed in no time!
  5. Mix 5 drops Panaway, 5 drops Marjoram and 3 drops Peppermint and rub on the back of your neck for a soothing neck rub.
  6. Soothe hard working hands with this Hand Bath: 5 drops Lavender, 2 drops Marjoram, 3 cups of warm water.  Place your hands into a hand basin and soak for a few minutes.

Melissa Essential Oil

Melissa, also known as lemon balm, has a grassy, sweet lemon scent that is pleasant, uplifting, and encouraging.  When used aromatically or topically, Melissa is very soothing and can help promote feelings of relaxation.  The main chemical constituents of Melissa are geranial and neral which gives this oil it’s lemon scent and makes it a popular oil to use in perfumery.

Because it takes a tremendous amount of Melissa plant material to create a pure, unadulterated essential oil this is one of the most expensive essential oils and, unfortunately, one of the most adulterated.  Do not be fooled; if you see cheap Melissa essential oil then it is not pure.  Young Living cultivates, harvests, and distills many of their essential oils themselves, and can therefore verify their purity from start to finish.

The St. Maries farm, where Melissa is cultivated, has never been contaminated by industrial chemicals.  Previous to Young Living’s 1992 purchase of the land for the St. Maries farm, this area had never been exposed to chemicals, pesticides, or man-made fertilizers. This pristine condition makes the 200 acres of soil perfect for the cultivation of botanicals such as melissa, lavender, and tansy.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use.  Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water.  Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists.  Possible skin sensitivity.

  1. Diffuse Melissa to create a soothing and calming atmosphere in the home or office.
  2. Make that big presentation with confidence – apply a couple of drops to your palms and inhale.  The calming effect will let your hard work shine!
  3. After a long day, take a soothing bath infused with epsom salts and Melissa essential oil.
  4. Hosting your in-laws? First date jitters? Wear topically on your pulse points for those days when you know you’ll need that extra calming influence.
  5. Diffusing Melissa in the bedroom at night can be a wonderful and aromatic way to promote a good night’s sleep.
  6. Give your skin an invigorating boost by applying Melissa essential oil. Add Melissa oil to your moisturizer or to a spray bottle with water and spritz your face.
