Orange Vitality Essential Oil

Orange Vitality

(Citrus sinensis)

dietary

Orange (Citrus sinesis) essential oil includes the naturally occurring constituent limonene. Orange is also a wonderful addition to enhance the flavor of many foods and drinks. The orange is believed to have originated in China and later became the fruit of the wealthy in Europe before being introduced to America.

While most other essential oils are obtained by steam distillation of fresh plant material, citrus oils are not amenable to that process. When heat is applied, the citral content is diminished resulting in a poor quality oil with a harsh aroma.  Therefore many citrus oils, such as orange, are “cold-pressed” from the rind of the fruit.
