Cypress essential oil

Cypress

(Cupressus sempervirens)

topical aromatic

Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) is especially comforting during the winter season. Its fresh, herbaceous, slightly evergreen aroma is refreshing and energizing.

Derived from the branches of the tall evergreen tree, Cypress is frequently used in spas and by massage therapists.  It has a grounding, yet stimulating effect on the emotions, making it a popular oil to diffuse during times of transition or loss.
How to use: For aromatic or topical use. Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water. Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists. Possible skin sensitivity.
  1. Grounding:  Spiritually grounding, diffuse Cypress to promote feelings of security and stability.
  2. Skin Care: Cypress is a wonderful oil to add to your nightly skin care lotion*
  3. Deodorant: Cypress has a very spicy and masculine scent and is perfect for men to use in place of store bought deodorant.
  4. Closet or dresser drawer: place sachet on closet or dresser drawer to infuse clothes with scent.
  5. Diffuse Cypress with White Fir and Cedarwood for a manly scent on game day!

Vetiver essential oil

Vetiver

(Vetiveria zizanioides)

topical aromatic

Vetiver essential oil has an earthy and grounding aroma, bsimilar to patchouli with a touch of lemon.   Vetiver  can be diffused or used topically for its calming and relaxing fragrance. Vetiver includes the naturally occurring constituents isovalencenol, khusimol and beta-vetivone, and is included in the ART® Creme Masque, Melaleuca-Geranium Moisturizing Soap, Inspiration™ and Lady Sclareol™ essential oil blends, and SleepEssence™.   Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides) has a heavy, earthy fragrance

Also known as “Khus oil”, the essential oil of vetiver is obtained through steam distillation of its 6a00d8341c630a53ef016300787406970d-800wiroots.  This is probably why the smell of this oil is often described as “earthy” and “herbaceous”.  Vetiver is a thick and syrupy oil and is sometimes challenging to get out of the bottle, especially if it has been sitting for a long time.  Use a toothpick to open up the air vent (center hole) or take the plastic orifice out and use a dropper if you are impatient, like me.

How to use: For aromatic or topical use. Diffuse, inhale, or add to bath water. Apply to crown of head, back of neck, behind ears or inside wrists. Possible skin sensitivity.

  1. Diffuse: Diffuse this oil for a calming and relaxing fragrance throughout the home.
  2. Calming: Vetiver’s calming aroma is most potent through aromatic and topical use. Diffuse through the home, massage into the feet and toes, apply to the back of the neck or forehead, or use on the pillow or shirt collar.
  3. Promote a restful night’s sleep:This calming, grounding fragrance can be placed on the pillow, massaged into the soles of the feet, or applied to the back of the neck or forehead.*
  4. Grounding: Vetiver is wonderfully calming scent. I like to add a couple drops to my hands, rub together, hold to my face, close my eyes and slowly inhale.
  5. Bath: Add to Epsom salts in a bath for soothing experience.  I recommend this to help you unwind before bedtime
  6. Perfume: Vetiver has an intoxicating scent.  Described as woody, smokey, earthy, herbaceous etc it is a good base note.  I would recommend using this oil in combination with other lighter scents to create a one of a kind blend.

Brain Power™ gives your brain a boost with essential oils that are high in sesquiterpenes. Use it to clarify thought and develop greater focus.

“these essential oils all contain sesquiterpenes. Sesquiterpenes are C15 carbon chains that do not contain oxygen molecules, but mysteriously pull oxygen in. So wherever sesquiterpenes are found, oxygen will always come and attach to it.

When we have an oxygen deficiency in the brain, we will have problems in dealing with day-to-day stresses, making correct decisions and feeling self-motivated. In studies that were conducted at Berlin and Vienna universities, it was de

termined that breathing sesquiterpene oils increases blood brain oxygen.” ~Gary Young Blog Post

And don’t forget the ART Skin Care System!!

From the Young Living archives: Dec 1, 2014 Great skin care starts with three fundamental steps: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. Our new ART® Skin Care System offers three reformulated products that are designed to do just that. Authentic beauty radiates from within, and these products were created to emphasize your inherent beauty in a safe, natural way that doesn’t compromise your long-term health.   Gentle Cleanser, Refreshing Toner, and Light Moisturizer serve as the foundation of your daily skin care regimen. Let’s take a closer look at these newest additions to our ART product line:   ART Gentle Cleanser Cleansing twice daily is the first step to healthier-looking skin. Offering the same essential oil benefits as its predecessor, our new Gentle Cleanser uses additional plant-based ingredients to gently and effectively remove pore-clogging impurities from the skin.   We recommend using ART Gentle Cleanser morning and night or after any heavy sweating. Use lukewarm water and lather a nickel-sized amount of cleanser with your hands before massaging it onto the face. Rinse, and then pat dry. The mild foaming action leaves your face feeling clean, soft, and supple without stripping it of its natural oils.   ART Refreshing Toner Applying toner is an oft-skipped step, but if you want maximum benefits from your skin care regimen, don’t leave it out! Providing essential oils in a light, easily-absorbing formula, ART Refreshing Toner smoothes and balances the skin after cleansing, diminishes the appearance of pores, and removes residual particles left behind after cleansing. To apply, dampen a cotton ball with toner and gently swipe across clean, dry skin.     ART Light Moisturizer A good moisturizer forms a hydrating barrier on the skin to lock moisture and other beneficial ingredients into the skin and protect it from environmental attacks. Our new ART Light Moisturizer combines the best features of the former Day Activator and Night Reconstructor into one advanced, essential oil-infused formula. With new active botanicals that work with all skin types to help retain and maintain proper hydration, ART Light Moisturizer also reduces the visible signs of aging, evens skin tone, and improves skin elasticity. Massaged into the face morning and evening after applying toner, this moisturizer leaves your complexion refreshed, renewed, and radiant.   We can hardly wait for you to try these exciting new products! This easy-to-follow skin care regimen is gentle enough for every skin type and helps build healthy, youthful-looking skin now and long term. Your skin is a canvas—prepare it beautifully!   Gloria Russo—International and Portfolio Brand Manager, Personal Care And what better way to get closer to Mom than to have a girls night IN complete with facials from Young Living.  Incorporate the Beauty Masque a couple of times a week to help promote younger, healthier-looking skin for you and Mom!.

10 uses for En-R-Gee essential oil blend

En-R-Gee™

topical aromatic

En-R-Gee™ revitalizes with a blend of stimulating oils that have been used traditionally to help restore mental alertness. Uplifting and strengthening as the name suggests, it boosts energy. En-R-Gee consists of:

Some initially do not like the smell of En-R-Gee.   That’s never been an issue for me but I do like to use it with a citrus oil such as Citrus Fresh.  I find the citrus rounds out the scent nicely and gives it just a little bit of sweetness which is very pleasing and they complement each other nicely. En-R-Gee is pretty singular in purpose as you can tell by the name.  Any time you need a boost you can reach for this bottle and diffuse or inhale.  Below are some of the times when I have found use of En-R-Gee particularly helpful.  Fair warning, the first time I used this oil I was doing housework.  Next thing I knew I was on my hands and knees scrubbing out the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.  I thought “huh, I guess it worked!”

    4. Studying:  Need that extra jolt to stay up studying for an exam or presentation?  Instead of those unhealthy energy drinks, try diffusing or inhaling En-r-gee.
    5. Motivation: Have a task that you’ve been putting off?  Need some extra motivation to do that nasty chore?  Need to clean the house but all you want to do is put your feet up?   Try some En-r-gee to give you that extra boost to get you started!
    6. Exercise: diffuse while exercising in your home to give yourself that extra motivation to finish your workout.  Going to the gym? Put a dab or 2 behind your ears before you go.
    7. Work: Got the 3:00 blues?  Need extra motivation to be productive during those last couple of hours at work?  Try En-R-Gee in a USB diffuser for your own personal aromatherapy session.
    8. Parenting: Any parent, new or experienced, can sympathize with the enormous amt of energy that is required.  Whether it’s babies that keep you up all night nursing or teenagers that keep you up all night worrying, sometimes you need a little bit extra to get you through the day.

    10. Intimacy: Let’s face it, sometimes we are just too tired to spend time together in the bedroom.  Work, play, kids, stresses all deplete your energy over the course of a day.  But instead of rolling over and snoozing as soon as your head hits the pillow, use En-R-Gee to give yourself the energy the stay up and enjoy some togetherness!
